Eschatology and Public Theology

Course Code T1.7

Introduction

Eschatology has for too long been the exclusive haunt of sects and cranks, while Public Theology has often been neglected altogether. Yet both disciplines are vitally important if the church is to understand and live out its vocation in the world. This course explores these themes with the help of Calvin's Institutes and Bavinck's Reformed Dogmatics, along with a range of more recent theological works.

This course consists of nine 2-hour seminars over a period of approximately four months. Each seminar requires approximately 2 to 4 hours of preparation, which involves reading portions of the set texts. Study questions are provided to assist with your preparation and to encourage further reflection. The seminars then provide an opportunity for further discussion and teaching, exploring issues raised in the preparation.

Schedule: Nine seminars.
