There are no formal academic requirements for enrollment on courses at Emmanuel Training and Resources. However, the courses rely for their success on several important factors:
Prospective students should consider carefully whether they are willing and able to make these commitments. These matters will be raised during the initial interview (see below).
Please note that diligence, punctuality, and active involvement in the seminars are much more important than a student's previous level of theological education. If you're willing to work hard, then even if you've never read anything much apart from the Bible, we're confident you'll enjoy the courses immensely, and we encourage you to apply.
If you're interested in applying for any of our courses, you should first contact Steve Jeffery, Minister at Emmanuel Evangelical Church, to express your interest, either by or using the form at the bottom of this page.
Thereafter the application process comprises two stages:
Stage 1: Informal interview
The aim of the interview is to determine whether our courses are right for you. The interview can take place by phone, Skype or in person, and will include discussion of the following issues:
After the interview, you will be able to move on to stage 2 of the application process.
Stage 2: References
You may be asked to provide the names and contact details of one or two people who are willing to act as referees. Referees will be asked to read the course description on this website, and to comment on whether they believe the course is suitable for you.
We want our courses to be available to anyone who would benefit from them. We therefore keep our fees low: a flat rate of £10 per seminar, with a 50% reduction for full-time students, retired and unwaged.
If these fees would present a barrier to you, please contact us, as additional bursaries may be available. We don't want cost to prevent anyone participating.
